The warmth that outlasts the fire

Beginner's guide for the curious to explore saunas

Start gently

Your first sauna experience

There is no performance in sauna. Begin on a lower bench, breathe slowly, and leave before the heat feels like too much.

01

Warm slowly

Start with 5–8 quiet minutes on a lower bench and let your body settle.

02

Cool completely

Step outside, shower, or sit somewhere cool until your breathing feels easy.

03

Return if you wish

Two or three gentle rounds are plenty. Every day feels different.

What to bring

Two towels, light cotton or linen wrap, kilt, or simple towel for coverage, drinking water, slip-on sandals, hydrating skincare, a waterproof bag for wet gear, and enough time not to rush.

Leave jewellery, watches, and your phone somewhere cool.

  • Water to drink
  • Two clean towels
  • 100% cotton wrap or kilt
  • Time to cool down

How to enjoy the heat

This part is yours now. How hot, how long, how often? That's for you to decide.

Ask others before putting water on the hot rocks. Add a little water at a time to create löyly (steam). The steam increases the heat, making your heart beat faster and boosting blood circulation, just like light exercise. When you feel hot enough, step outside for a long, quiet cool-down.

From here, there's no fixed formula. There's no right way to finish. Only your way.

Go for as many rounds as you like, stay as long as feels right, and step outside for a long, quiet cool-down whenever the heat tells you to.

A gentle note on safety.

Hydrate, avoid alcohol, and leave the sauna if you feel dizzy or unwell. If you are pregnant or have a health condition, ask a healthcare professional what is right for you.
